Self Care Tookit

Creating a self-care toolkit

Your self care tool kit is something you can reach for whenever you feel overwhelmed and need a break. The purpose of a toolkit to help reduce your stress, boost your mood and increase your comfort.

If you find yourself feeling anxious, worn down, overwhelmed, fatigued, depressed or unfocused then you may want to create a self-care toolkit to overcome these emotions. I reach for mine when I feel my mental health has been affected after a long day, or whenever I need a little focus or love.

What is in my toolkit?

There’s no right or wrong way to make a self-care kit! Anything that makes you feel safe and happy can be included.  For me, a self-care kit includes things that I love and make me feel rejuvenated, relaxed, or safe.

I have something in my toolkit that consist of the five senses:

  • taste (food or cocktail)
  • sound (dance or spiritual music-something about hearing the praises of Jesus just calms my soul)
  • touch (my favorite throw or blanket)
  • smell (light candles or burn oil)
  • visual (look at old pictures or videos)
  • body care item (body products that helps take care of my body)

What I love about my self-care kit is that no matter what, there’s something in there for my mood: sad, depressed, anxious, stressed, melancholy, and more.

I keep my self-care toolkit close by except the cocktail (it must remain cool but when I travel I carry the shot bottles with me). I use self-care throughout the day (in addition to times of self-care crisis) to help me destress so keeping it handy is important.

So, now you know how easy it is to create a self-care toolkit you can relax more & enjoy the life you’ve created based on you & your needs! I believe in you & your next crisis will be handled with ease!

Just remember self-care is just as important as caring for others. Do not be afraid to put yourself first…do not allow other people selfishness or inconsideration to make you feel guilty of taking care of you first! It is ok to live your best life without guilt I do it daily with my cocktail close by!

Cheers
